An elderly woman is in critical condition after being struck by a car on a major road in Brisbane’s northern suburbs.

The pedestrian, believed to be in her 60s, was seriously injured on Saturday morning about 7.18am by a sedan travelling northbound on Gympie Road in Kedron.

Emergency crews have shut down northbound lanes as investigators examine the scene of the crash.

Police could not go into detail about the woman’s injuries but revealed she had not been transported to hospital.

She was reportedly crossing the road, near the Homebush Road turnoff, when she was hit by the vehicle.

Ambulance and Police were unable to comment on the status of the woman’s condition.
