A Texas engineer has put a twist on his singing Big Mouth Billy Bass by wiring it up to his Alexa speaker.

Jessie Carabajal, who works as a network engineer in San Antonio, got to work on his old Billy Bass and delivered the finished product last month.

He programmed the Billy Bass to answer questions and timed it so it would move when responding.

Carabajal posted videos online of the finished product.

The videos show the Billy Bass triggering his Neato Botvac vacuum cleaner, telling jokes and giving updates on the weather.

In the vacuuming video, Carabajal can be heard saying: ‘Billy Bass?’

The fish jerks and responds: ‘Yes’ in Alexa’s tone of voice.

‘Trigger Neato to vacuum,’ Carabajal says.

The robot vacuum cleaner in the far corner of the room then comes to life and starts moving around the room.

‘Was able to trigger my Neato Botvac vacuum from Billy Bass,’ Carabajal wrote online alongside the video.

‘I temporarily placed my Billy Bass by the stove to show it off this feature. It would not be wise as a long term solution as it would make making bacon a bit difficult.’

Carabajal was inspired by the idea after spotting something similar on Reddit.
