Ray Hadley leads condemnation of Malcolm Turnbull’s son after he brought up a journalist’s sex life

Malcom Turnbull’s son Alex has been strongly condemned after he brought up a journalist’s sex life when she called him out for being a ‘sore loser’.

Janet Albrechtsen, a columnist for The Australian newspaper, called Alex Turnbull a ‘very funny caricature of the sore loser’ in a tweet on Monday after he publicly donated to an online activist group.

Mr Turnbull chose to hit back at Ms Albrechtsen by speculating about her sex life.

His comment was met with widespread outrage, with many people including 2GB radio hosts Ray Hadley and Ben Fordham saying that Mr Turnbull’s tweet was ‘disgusting’ and ‘disgraceful’.

‘He needs to pull his head in and wake up to himself,’ Hadley said.

‘He’s a young man saying dumb things and I’ve cut him some slack… but now he’s entered the debate in the most unsavoury, disgusting way. And for that, he should be condemned.’

Fellow host Ben Fordham also criticised Mr Turnbull’s comment.

‘Using sex to publicly attack a woman. So woke,’ Mr Fordham sarcastically tweeted alongside a screenshot of Mr Turnbull’s tweet.

Others took to social media to slam Mr Turnbull.

One person called him a ‘f**kwit and a weak dog’, while another said he was a ‘disgrace’ and a ‘disgusting person’.

Mr Turnbull later deleted his tweet and offered an apology to Ms Albrechtsen.

‘Your personal life, much like your opinions on family values and judgements on the lives of others have no place in public discourse,’ Mr Turnbull said.

‘Tabloid viciousness never leads anywhere good especially when it darkens one’s doorstep.’

Earlier, Mr Turnbull defended his offensive tweet by saying that the fact his father was Prime Minister does not exclude him from responding to criticism, calling it an ‘incorrect assumption’.

‘Just because politicians’ kids can’t punch back while a parent is in office (doesn’t mean) they never will,’ he tweeted.

Ms Albrechtsen declined to comment when contacted by Daily Mail Australia.
