Sarah Jessica Parker’s shoe opening is interrupted by animal rights activists

Sarah Jessica Parker was ambushed by a group of animal activists during the grand opening of her New York City shoe store on Thursday.

The Sex and the City star was at the Seaport District mingling with fans and shoppers at her new store SJP Shoes when she was confronted by a group of anti-fur protesters.

In video footage obtained by DailyMail.com, a female advocate can be seen asking the actress: ‘How do you feel about rocking fur in every single one of your coats?’ before adding, ‘no compassion at all, your last winter coat had a fur trim.’

Parker, who was visibly uncomfortable, kept her cool and tried to reason with the woman.

‘I am a compassionate person,’ she responds.

‘So you’re going to tell your husband and all the coyotes that get trapped and killed for fur coats as well?’ the woman asks, referring to Parker’s husband Matthew Broderick.

The 53-year-old actress appears to be at a loss for words and replies: ‘I stand..I totally…I stand informed, and I really appreciate it.’

The woman then retorts: ‘I understand you’re informed about it, but that’s not enough.’

The video then skips to show the activist walking away from Parker who tries to get her name.

‘Tell me what your name is. Tell me what your name is. Tell me your name.’

The woman ignores her and walks over to the other group of activists who then begin to chant: ‘Fur trade, death trade!’ repeatedly.

The camera pans to an awkward Parker, who can be heard saying: ‘OK. Thank you very much. Thanks for coming by.’

‘And shame on your husband too, Matthew! For wearing Triple F.A.T. coyote fur, shame on him too! Shame on your husband!’
