Star Wars: The Last Jedi addresses death of Carrie Fisher

Star Wars: The Last Jedi has opened and fans finally get to see how the franchise is dealing with the untimely death of Princess Leia star Carrie Fisher.

Or not.

In the new movie, First Order guns blow out Leia’s ship’s bridge leaving her drifting out into space, Vanity Fair reported Thursday.

But she is not dead. Instead, she summons the Force, gets back to her ship and then spends the rest of the film in a coma.

That means fans will have to wait until the next installment to find out what happens to the iconic character.

Producer Kathleen Kennedy assured Vanity Fair that they won’t digitally recreate Fisher in the next installment Episode IX. There won’t even be archival footage of the late Hollywood actress either, she said. 

‘Sadly, Carrie will not be in IX,’ Kennedy told Vanity Fair.
