Strictly’s AJ Pritchard praises Mollie King in tweet

They have been at the centre of a sea of speculation in recent weeks, with fans adamant the couple are in a relationship.

And Strictly Come Dancing’s AJ Pritchard did nothing to quell the rumours on his relationship with Mollie King, as he posted an adorable tweet about his partner ahead of their semi-final performance on Saturday.

The 23-year-old tweeted a snap of himself and Mollie in the Strictly ballroom, calling her ‘an amazing person’, just hours before the pair were teased by show hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman over their supposed ‘romance’.

‘Amazing person’: Strictly Come Dancing’s AJ Pritchard did little to dispel the rumours surrounding his relationship with Mollie King, gushing about the star in an adorable tweet

AJ captioned the post: ‘Mollie you are a truly amazing person, your improvement from week to week is outstanding, Thank you for giving 1000% always.. We are so Excited for tonight! Thank you for all your Love & Support for getting us to the Semi-Finals. We don’t want our journey to end.’

Mollie and AJ were suited and booted for the snap on the dancefloor, before later taking to the floor for Strictly’s big semi-final which will see the couple take on two dances.

The duo performed the Samba to Shakira’s Whenever, Wherever. Their first dance, however, got a frosty performance, and a frustrated Mollie apologized to AJ, as he comforted her, holding her close while reassuring her.

‘Adorable’, Claudia exclaimed as she observed AJ comforting a distraught Mollie – no doubt hoping to redeem herself in their second number a Waltz to Angel by Sarah McLachlan, as they scored just 24.

All eyes were on the couple once again, however, as Claudia and her co-host Tess addressed swirling rumours Mollie and AJ are now an ‘official item’.

Claudia announced: ‘Let’s address the elephant in the room’. ‘What whether Mollie and AJ are a couple?’ Tess chimed back in response, before Claudia swiftly replied: ‘No,’ and pointed towards another dance.

Mollie and AJ have set tongues wagging over their incredible chemistry both on and off the dancefloor, with the pair enjoying a cosy lunch together in between rehearsals in London on Wednesday.

Their candid display came as sources claimed to have seen the duo ‘canoodling and even snogging’ after developing a romance which is an open secret among cast and crew.

An insider told The Sun: ‘They have been seen kissing, canoodling and even snogging while training.

‘It’s still very early days and they are not officially dating or in a relationship, but there’s a real chemistry and attraction between them.

‘Everyone is talking about it backstage and they are desperate for them to become a couple.’

However the source added: ‘He is much younger than her and Mollie tends to go for older, more mature men.’

The pair prompted a wave of social media feedback after AJ appeared to kiss Mollie following their heated rumba during last Saturday evening’s edition of the live show.

Yet Mollie previously hit out at claims she’s dating AJ, insisting they are just really good friends during an appearance on This Morning.

Speaking to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, she said: ‘No we are not together, promise! We get on so well. I think that’s maybe that’s why there are these rumours.’

She added: ‘We are literally like best friends. We spend so much time together. We’re training 12 hours a day and I still love spending every minute with him. It’s mad that you’re not sick of each other!
