And Taron Egerton looked the spitting image of the iconic musician as filming got under way in North London on Friday.
The actor, 28, got into character with the help of Elton’s signature rounded glasses as he filmed scenes set in the 1970s.

Taron looked worlds away from his usual appearance as he transformed into the Circle of Life hitmaker with the help of a ginger wig and large sideburns.
The Kingsman star wore a grey tartan suit atop of a clashing blue and red star patterned vest, which was in keeping with Elton’s signature style.
Having filmed scenes in an elaborate feathered costume earlier this month, Taron’s latest look was remarkably toned down as he paired the top with matching bowling shoes and wore a heart earring in one ear.

Filming begun back in June in Pinner, North West, London where Sir Elton – or Reginald Dwight, as he was then – was born in March 1947.
The film, directed by Dexter Fletcher, will follow Sir Elton’s life his years as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music through to his influential musical partnership with lyricist Bernie Taupin, played by Jamie Bell.
It will document the life of the singer and songwriter from youth as a student to the start of his rock career in the 1970s and 80s.

Welsh actor and singer Egerton has previously starred in the Kingsman spy movies, Testament of Youth and Eddie The Eagle.
