The Block topples TV rivals as it draws in more than a MILLION viewers

The 14th season of The Block is proving to be a ratings smash for Channel Nine, drawing in more than a million people for the second night in a row.

1.01 million metro viewers tuned in to Monday evening’s episode of the reality juggernaut, making it the most watched non-news program of the night.

It comes after Sunday’s installment of the program toppled its competition, garnering a blockbuster audience of 1.11 million.

Channel Nine will no doubt be thrilled with Monday night’s figures, with The Block giving a solid lead-in to its local drama, Doctor Doctor. 

That critically-acclaimed series screens after The Block, and was watched by 684,000 people, helping Nine win the night with an overall audience share of 22%.

While Channel Seven’s 6PM news was the top-rated show on Monday evening, the network suffered overall due to its low-rated reality show, Dance Boss.

The Dannii Minogue-hosted dancing competition continues to shed viewers, only managing to draw in a paltry 447,000 people in metro markets. 

That number is down on the already dismal 481,000 who tuned in last Tuesday night.  

Meanwhile, Monday’s episode of The Block featured no shortage of drama, as couples got to work on their ensuite bathrooms.
