The Block’s Shelley Craft speaks candidly about the Logie Awards

The 60th Annual Logie Awards will be held on the Gold Coast next Sunday night.

And just eight days out from the ceremony, The Block’s Shelley Craft has reminisced about her very first time attending the industry event.

‘I didn’t really understand or know what the Logies were and I didn’t for one second think I would be in the same room as people I watched on TV,’ she told The Daily Telegraph on Saturday.

Shelley’s first time at the Logies was way back in 1997 when she was working as a co-host on the kids’ program, Saturday Disney.

The now 42-year-old said she had no idea she would eventually go on to be a veteran at the awards show.

Since 2011, she has been a co-host of Nine’s renovation juggernaut The Block, and since she joined the program it has won five Logies for Most Popular Reality Show.

The series is up for the same award at next week’s ceremony, and Shelley will be in attendance.

Meanwhile, the bubbly presenter has become popular for her dishing out her own tips and tricks in relation to home decor, given her seven years as a host on The Block.

Writing for 9 Honey earlier this year, Shelley said she uses one simple de-cluttering process to ensure her home is kept tidy.

‘I’m sure I’ve mentioned my ‘one in, one out’ rule before: In our house, when something new comes in, something has to go out,’ Shelley wrote.

She revealed the playroom is the first area on on her to-do list, as kids’ toys begin to pile-up.

The mother-of-two wrote that her family clears old items into clothes and toy bins, and then selects a charity to donate them to.

‘Since holidaying in Fiji, my girls have a first-hand account of children living with less and after spending a day in a school and village with limited learning and play equipment, they now understand the importance of supporting communities less fortunate and it makes the ‘one in, one out’ a lot more genuine,’ she wrote.
