The truck finally came to rest on the far wall of the tunnel on Devlin Road on Monday morning, fortunately without slamming into it.
The truck driver ‘suffered a medical episode’ before the crash and was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for treatment, police said.
The 46-year-old driver of the Prado was taken to hospital with a gash on her upper arm but was otherwise uninjured.
Several other motorists pulled over inside the tunnel and rushed to help the truck driver and other victim.
Two bigger trucks blocked half the tunnel to make the scene safe to help the driver in his cab until an ambulance arrived.
