A neighbour who witnessed the aftermath of the stabbing, which happened about 10.40pm, said the two alleged attackers fled the scene down an alleyway between some houses on the street.

Michael Randall was retrieving a bag from his car parked on the street moments before the alleged stabbing took place.

‘Police told us they ran up our side laneway just after, and moments earlier I was out at my car getting my gym bag,’ he said.

‘I’ve got two kids and I guess you worry about what might have happened if I’d been out there a bit later.

‘Apart from these incidents with the tactical squad and other things recently, it’s a pretty tame and nice neighbourhood.’
