Warriors rookie Bell out two weeks with ankle sprain

Golden State Warriors forward Jordan Bell will miss at least two weeks with a sprained left ankle suffered Wednesday in Chicago, the team announced Friday.

Bell went down awkwardly after challenging a dunk by Chicago Bulls center Robin Lopez and was eventually taken off the court in a wheelchair.

The 23-year-old rookie initially thought he had broken the ankle, but X-rays came back negative after the game. After an MRI on Bell’s ankle, head coach Steve Kerr told reporters Friday there is “no structural damage” and that the diagnosis is “good news overall.”

“He’s a young guy who heals quickly, so hopefully this is best-case scenario,” Kerr said.

Bell will miss at least five games, with Feb. 2 in Sacramento being his first possible date for a return. He has averaged 5.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks across 14.4 minutes per game this season.
