Officers said the driver of the vehicle was uninjured after hitting the central reservation barrier as it passed through Tangmere, near Chichester.

PC Peter De Silvo, from Sussex Police, added: ‘We believe the Pagani was travelling in convoy with some other super sportscars from Worthing to Chichester but no other car was at the scene upon police arrival.

‘Thankfully the driver of the Pagani was uninjured.

‘We are appealing to anyone who saw this car driving on the A27 – we are hoping someone would remember as it is so distinctive.’
