2024 Logie Awards: The stars that won’t be attending the ceremony are revealed… as Ada Nicodemou and James Stewart plan red carpet ‘hard launch’

It’s known as Australian television’s night of nights.

But not all stars will be attending the 2024 Logie Awards on Sunday night as some celebrities have chosen to skip the event.

Today show reporter Karl Stefanovic won’t be attending as he celebrates his 50th birthday out of Sydney, according to The Daily Telegraph.

Channel Seven star David Koch, whose contract with the network is believed to be coming to an end, and Mark Ferguson, who is believed to be stepping away from the news desk, are also skipping the event.

Lisa Wilkinson won’t be making an appearance following her controversial 2022 Logies speech where she mentioned alleged rape victim Brittany Higgins.

Kerri-Anne Kennerley, Australian Idol’s Ricki Lee-Coulter and Sylvia Jeffreys will also be skipping the Logie Awards ceremony.

Meanwhile, Ada Nicodemou and James Stewart are reportedly planning to make their red carpet ‘hard launch’.

Their romance was revealed with their lingering Anzac Day kiss after Ada split from her ex-partner Adam Rigby just before Christmas last year and James finalised his divorce from Sarah Roberts in March.

Comedian Sam Pang will be hosting the award’s night.

‘Hosting the Logies last year was an amazing experience and I’m thrilled to return in 2024,’ Sam said in a statement in June.

Andy Lee, Asher Keddie, Julia Morris, Larry Emdur, Robert Irwin, Sonia Kruger, and Tony Armstrong will be vying for the Gold Logie.

Last year, Pang was hailed as one of the best Logies hosts in ages following his debut at the awards.

His blistering gags during the Logies included high profile targets such as Channel  Stefanovic and Koch.

Channel Seven’s Logies telecast was a ratings blockbuster for the network, drawing in an impressive 877,000 viewers.

Fans have credited Sam for the show’s success, with many tuning in to the Logies for the first time just to see him host the show.

He was a big hit with viewers thanks to his fiery gags, in which he took aim at everything from gross reality TV to the scandalous private lives of celebrities.

Sam’s opening monologue included a dig at Married at First Sight, saying the controversial reality show is ‘a clear sign we’ll not make it as a species’.

He also joked about commercial TV’s lack of diversity, saying: ‘I’m the first host in the history of the Logies to be half and half – half Channel Seven, half Channel Ten.’
