The fraternity has been suspended by the school pending investigation
University officials say the charges include hazing, criminal nuisance and unlawfully dealing with a child, which pertains to providing alcohol to people under 21.
Six former Plattsburgh students are also expected to be charged.
The college has suspended the fraternity pending investigation.
‘County District Attorney office to prosecute the matter criminally and it emphasized we have no tolerance for hazing,’ the college’s director of communications, Ken Knelly, told WCAX.
‘I think the school is coming down a little too hard on them. I think it’s safe to assume every fraternity or sorority haze or do some kind of not that fun pledge process. My guess is some kid was not up for it and decided to shut them all down,’ student Ethan Campana said.
The students will head to court in November.
