Brighter days: 360, born Matthew James Colwell, opened up about the overdose that finally lead him to sobriety on The Kyle & Jackie O Show on Monday

Having initially described the experience on his 2016 track ‘I’m Sorry’, the rapper divulged more information on his experience to the KIIS FM breakfast team.

‘I was going on tour and I was addicted to really hectic Oxycontin and heroin and s*** like that,’ he told the hosts.

‘Because I didn’t want to take heroin on the plane and I couldn’t get enough Oxycontin to last me on tour, I had to just take Nurofen Plus,’ he continued.

‘It wouldn’t get me high, it would just make me feel normal. I had four packets, so I had 120 [tablets], then I overdosed and landed myself in hospital,’ he recalled.

Co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson asked the Melbourne-based lyricist about the kind of reaction you have with an overdose of Nurofen.

‘Apparently I was convulsing on the floor and no one knew what was going on ’cause no one knew what was actually happening with my addiction,’ he explained.

‘So I just woke up in hospital. I was at the show and right before I was meant to go on stage, I just fell over and started convulsing,’ he added.

The hip-hop artist, whose new album Vintage Modern sits at number six on the ARIA Australian Artist Album Chart, said the overdose made him give up drugs for good.

‘I had to cancel my entire tour and I went straight to rehab and got off everything, which was an absolute nightmare,’ he reflected.
