Crown Princess Mary and family depart Sydney for Tasmania

It’s been six long years since Princess Mary was last in her home state of Tasmania.

But that is soon to come to an end, after the Crown Princess and her family were pictured leaving Sydney, reportedly on the move to Hobart.

Confidential sources revealed to The Mercury that the 45-year-old’s arrival in her home state is imminent.

The mother-of-four looked relaxed and stylish, as she got into a black car with her family to leave Sydney.

Wearing a simple black dress, a long chain necklace, tan-hued sunglasses and nude ballet pumps, Mary completed her outfit with a grey and black boat hat and straight hair.

She also carried a brown tan handbag, as she stood alongside two large suitcases, one of which was by the world-renowned designer, Louis Vuitton.

Princess Mary wasn’t the only one of the Danish Royals who certainly wasn’t packing light.

Following the Royal family were several members of airline staff, who were carrying the rest of the family’s numerous pieces of luggage.

Crown Prince Frederik also opted for a casual outfit for the short-distance flight.

Pairing a pale blue polo shirt with a navy striped blazer and satchel, he also appeared to be carrying a paper bag from the indoor and outdoor furniture store, Freedom – perhaps presents for Mary’s family.

It is believed that Tasmanian Governor, Kate Warner, and her husband, Richard, will be in residence at Government House during the Royal family’s stay.

Since the Danish Royals arrived in Australia on December 11, they’ve been enjoying a whirlwind schedule.

After competing in a yacht race on Sydney Harbour on day one of their itinerary, they later enjoyed a beach day at Sydney’s Palm Beach – complete with body boards, beach balls and swims.

There had been speculation that Prince Frederik would compete in the annual Sydney to Hobart race aboard Wild Oats XI, but the skipper, Mark Richards, put paid to such rumours when he told The Mercury:

‘That’s not right — not this year,’ he told sports journalist, James Bresnehan. ‘They were on board today for the Big Boat race, which is a bit of fun, but he definitely won’t be there for Hobart.’

Princess Mary visited Australia with her family in 2015, as well as with Prince Frederik in 2013, but did not travel to Tasmania, Mary’s hometown, on either trip.

The royal family’s previous vacation in Australia garnered numerous headlines as they visited the likes of Perth, the Gold Coast, and Byron Bay.
