Group of 10 Iraqis in back of lorry arrested in Bracknell

A group of 10 suspected illegal immigrants have been pulled from the back of a lorry in Berkshire.

Police were called to a dual carriageway in Bracknell last week after noises were heard coming from the back of the truck.

Seven men believed to be aged between 18 and 30, two 16 year olds and a 17 year old, who said they were from Iraq, were arrested by police.

The incident happened on the same stretch of Bagshot Road where nine migrants – eight men and a boy – were detained three months ago.

Footage posted on Facebook shows the moment then men were hauled from the lorry

Commenting on the latest incident, a spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: ‘We were called on December 14 to reports of noises coming from inside a lorry on Bagshot Road, Bracknell.

‘Ten males aged 16, 16, 17, 18, 22, 25, 26, 29 and a duo of 30 year old were subsequently arrested on suspicion of entering the country illegally.

‘They were remanded and are in the process of being transferred to the Home Office custody suite.’

The group are now being processed by Border Agency officials.
