Inside Australian celebrities most lavish homes of 2017

It was a big year for Australian celebrities cementing themselves on the property ladder.

And while the median house prices continued to rise in the capital cities, with Sydney even topping $1 million, certain socialites and TV professionals alike were able to snap up extravagant estates within their price ranges.

And a few weren’t without their controversies.

From 56 surveillance cameras at Salim Mehajer’s to horse stables at Sophie Monk’s: Inside the lavish celebrity homes of 2017, including Bec and Lleyton Hewitt’s $12.7 million estate and Jesinta Campbell’s gothic home

JESINTA CAMPBELL AND BUDDY FRANKLIN

Former David Jones ambassador Jesinta Franklin and her AFL-playing husband Buddy Franklin painted their Rose Bay home a startling shade of charcoal this year.

The couple, who wed in 2016, bought the four-bedroom, three-bathroom home in 2014 for $2.35 million.

But if they plan on selling the split level estate next year Interior stylist and designer Juliet Love admitted they should repaint the house something more neutral.

‘I think the general rule when you’re selling is to choose safe options, that way you’re appealing to the broadest market, I think it’s a good idea to be fairly safe with your colour,’ Ms Love told realestate.com.

But the open plan living and dining room, as well as a spa in the rear of the house, will certainly tip in the couple’s favour should they decide to move.

SCHAPELLE CORBY

The Corby family’s Gold Coast beach house went under contract in April and had been listed under Schapelle’s father Michael’s name, even after his death 10 years ago.

An offer was made on the two-bathroom, single garage estate just before it was opened for inspection mid-month.

Schapelle made headlines in Australia, and around the world, after she was arrested in Bali in October 2004.

Schapelle’s sentence was later reduced, and she received several remissions for good behaviour over the years. She was eventually released on parole in February 2014.

She remained in Bali during her parole period until May this year, when she was deported back to Australia.
