Baby badly burned by Buddhist prayer candles in Sydney

A baby was badly burned when a tray of prayer candles fell on to her, spraying the girl and her parents with hot wax.

The 11-month-old was being held by her mother at the Bangladesh Australia Buddhist Society temple on Haultain Street in Minto, Sydney, about 9.40pm on Monday.

She was covered in melting wax when the tray tipped towards her, suffering burns to her face, arms, and legs.

Police performed first aid until paramedics arrived to treat the family, before the girl was rushed from the temple (pictured) to The Children’s Hospital Westmead

Her 28-year-old mother had burns to face and minor burns to hands and feet and 35-year-old father suffered minor burns to his hands and feet.

Police performed first aid until paramedics arrived to treat the family, before the girl was rushed to The Children’s Hospital Westmead.

Her parents were also rushed to Westmead Hospital. They were in stable conditions on Tuesday morning.

Police were investigating and said there were several other people at the temple.
