Manchester United have entered into discussions with Sevilla in a bid to bring down the astronomical price of tickets for their Champions League clash next month.
The Spanish side sparked outrage when it emerged that they planned to charge United supporters £89 and £133 for the last-16 fixture.
It is understood that while United are reluctant to subsidise the cost of the tickets, as they do not want to set a precedent and give opposition clubs a licence to up prices in future, they have opened dialogue with officials at the La Liga side.

United will email supporters who have been successful in the ballot for the 2,650 tickets on Tuesday afternoon.
The message will tell them that they have been charged the full admission price but also adds that work is ongoing to reduce that figure. Any subsequent discount will be passed on.
The staggering prices were branded ‘exorbitant’ by Duncan Drasdo, chief executive of the Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST).
He added: ‘It is too early to know whether we can change this but we are already in contact with both Manchester United and Football Supporters Europe (FSE) and will be lobbying UEFA and other bodies who may be able to influence this exploitative pricing.’

As revealed by Sportsmail, United will also seek advice from Liverpool ahead of the February 21 fixture.
Fans of the Merseyside club claimed they were mistreated by Spanish police, with some allegedly assaulted and denied entry to the stadium for a 3-3 draw with Sevilla in November.
Anfield officials collated a number of complaints which have been passed to the FSE, who are compiling a dossier of incidents involving fans of foreign clubs at Spanish grounds. That dossier is set to be handed to the Council of Europe in the coming weeks.
Liverpool supporters were charged £54 for tickets – a price Sevilla officials have claimed was reduced, while last season, Leicester City fans travelling to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, were charged £51.
