Sergio Aguero: Man City chiefs will decide when I leave

  • Boss Pep Guardiola has recently overlooked him for Brazilian star Gabriel Jesus
  • Aguero, City’s all-time top scorer, is linked with a move away for more game time
  • The Argentine inisted that he doesn’t want to leave the club when his deal is up

Sergio Aguero has reiterated his desire to stay at Manchester City, but conceded the club’s top brass will have the final word on whether he departs when his current deal runs out.

The striker has two years remaining on his contract but has been left disappointed by Pep Guardiola’s decision to overlook him on big occasions this season.

Aguero is set for a run of starts after Gabriel Jesus suffered medial ligament damage and admitted his long-term future is in City’s hands.

Sergio Aguero has conceded that his future at Manchester City is not in his hands

‘The truth is that I hope to see out my contract and I’ll try to do my best from here until the end of the season,’ he said.

‘After that we will see what happens with me. Obviously my plan is not to change clubs.

‘I’m very happy here but, as always, the club has the last word. They are the only ones who decide, because obviously the club is the one who makes the decisions.

‘They are the ones who say you have to go or have to stay, so I’ll respect whatever they tell me.’

Asked about his relationship with Guardiola, Aguero replied: ‘Everything is fine.’

The Argentine was unhappy at being an unused substitute in the derby victory at Manchester United last month and showed discontent when hooked against Tottenham.

Guardiola understands the 29-year-old’s frustrations and said recently: ‘Our job is to try to search for something to make us win. I try to have the best relations as possible with players.

‘We are together and I understand when they are upset. I understand the feelings but I respect Sergio, what he has done, what he will do in the future.

‘He’s a legend. He will decide everything about his life, his future.’
