Australian rapper jailed after leading police on car chase

An Australian rapper accused of leading Melbourne police on a high-speed chase on New Year’s Day has been refused bail.

Corinthian Morgan, otherwise known as ‘Mr Morgz’, allegedly went on a Mad Max-inspired pursuit in the city’s north on Monday, during which police claim he almost hit a cyclist and pedestrians, according to The Herald Sun.

The 32-year-old Aboriginal, who authorities described as an ice addict, told the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday he could not offer an excuse, but became angry when he was told he would be kept behind bars until his next appearance in court.

‘Thanks a f — king lot,’ he yelled at Magistrate Duncan Reynolds, according to the publication.

‘Jail, jail, jail no bail for a black man.’

Mr Morgan is facing multiple charges, including reckless endangering life.

The 32-year-old was with his girlfriend and a 15-year-old relative when he led police on a high-speed chase. 

Police were forced to smash the car windows and use a baton on Mr Morgan, according to the publication.

Mr Morgan is expected to face court next week.
