Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has proven he is just like any other Australian during this heatwave by stripping down and cooling off in the ocean.
The 63-year-old was photographed during an early-morning dip in Sydney’s Bondi Beach on Friday in nothing but a pair of tiny black swimming shorts, which had the words ‘funky trunks’ stitched into the side.
He was no match for the heavy waves which the active grandfather dived in and out of during his quick ocean jaunt.

Turnbull’s choice of swimwear certainly bucked the political trend, his square-cut shorts covering much more than former PM Tony Abbott’s iconic red budgy smugglers.
The PM looked fighting fit for being in his early 60s – albeit the busy Christmas season and the stress of the job may be taking its toll ever so slightly.
He enjoyed the Bondi water with little chance of a costume mishap as he battled the crashing waves.

The swimming trunks have been identified as the product of Melbourne underwear and swimwear brand Funky Trunks which retail for just $44.95, the Daily Telegraph reports.
He was joined by a dark-haired friend who donned a Billabong rash-shirt, similar black trunks and a pair of swimming flippers.
As he left the water the PM was greeted by an entourage of fellow beach-goers who appear to have recognised their political leader.

Turnbull was photographed waving cheerily to someone in the distance as he headed away from the beach.
The PM is rarely photographed wearing only his swimming trunks and the quick dip is a rare moment of recreation for the busy politician.
The new images show Turnbull looking slightly fitter than his last photographed swim at Bondi in 2011 looking a little worse for wear.
