Virgil van Dijk and his new Liverpool team-mates arrived early at Anfield ahead of their FA Cup clash against neighbours Everton on Friday night.

The £75million Dutch defender, signed from Southampton, seemed in a relaxed mood as he turned up at the club’s stadium with his colleagues ahead of what could potentially be his first match in Liverpool colours.

Van Dijk was pictured arriving alongside compatriot Georginio Wijnaldum and Emre Can, who looks set to be off to Juventus in the summer after Sky Italy reported he had an ‘agreement in principle’ to join the Serie A giants.

Meanwhile, Sadio Mane was greeted by manager Jurgen Klopp in the car park on Friday after the winger made his way back from the CAF African Player of the Year awards gala in Ghana on Thursday.

The Senegalese international came second in the African Player of the Year voting behind club team-mate and Egyptian star Mohamed Salah.

However, Everton suffered defeat in their encounter leading up to the Merseyside derby, losing 2-0 against Manchester United at Goodison Park.
