‘Pregnant Barbie’ with removable stomach now on sale

Parents have been left baffled by a pregnant Barbie-style doll that comes complete with a detachable stomach and a baby inside.

The bizarre toy, which retails for £2.48 on Amazon UK, allows children to unscrew the flesh coloured bump to reveal a removable baby sitting inside.

It is described as a ‘Barbie’ on both Amazon and eBay, where similar models sell for £7.44. However it looks quite different to Mattel’s best-selling doll.

A photo of the doll caused a stir when it was shared on a deals website yesterday, with parents calling it ‘scary’.

One wrote: ‘I’d heard about these but thought they were a joke.’ Another posted: ‘Never seen anything like this before.’

The doll is similar appearance to Barbie, with long blonde hair, thin limbs and a slender physique.

However it appears the doll does have some fans, with more than a dozen customers leaving positive reviews for the item on Amazon.co.uk. 

One wrote: ‘Very suprised how good this doll is! Ordered it because it was so cheap and didn’t expect much but its great. For the price you can’t beat it!’

Another posted: ‘My granddaughter will love this doll, excellent value.’
