Body of woman is found washed up on an East Sussex beach

  • A woman’s body was found by a member of the public on Normans Bay beach
  • Police were called to the East Sussex beach at around 9am today 
  • The body hasn’t been identified and her next of kin has not yet been informed

The body of a 50 to 60 year old woman was found washed up in Normans Bay, East Sussex this morning.

Police are investigating the death after they were called just before 9am today when a member of the public found the body.

An eye-witness, who doesn’t wish to be identified, said that when they saw the body they thought that it looked like it had been in the water for several days.

The woman’s next of kind has not been informed yet.

Police are investigating the death of a woman who’s body washed up in Normans Bay, East Sussex 

Police and ambulance services were alerted to the situation by the coastguard.

The woman’s death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious.    

A spokesman for Sussex Police said this evening: ‘Officers were called to Normans Bay after a body was found.

‘Her next of kin have not yet been informed. It’ not being treated as suspicious but remains unexplained at this time.

‘The body was recovered and we believe the woman was aged in her 50s or 60s.’
