An Uber driver was threatened at knifepoint

An armed robber who handcuffed an Uber driver to the steering wheel of her car on the Gold Coast is on the run.

Police say the man, wearing a mask, brandished a knife after entering the 39-year-old Carrara woman’s car around 8.45pm on Saturday at Biggera Waters.

The man demanded the woman drive her to a nearby shopping centre before he ordered her to stop and give her money.

The woman handed over a small amount of money and was then handcuffed to the steering wheel while the man searched for more money.

He then released her from the handcuffs and demanded she drive him to Labrador where he left the car.
