Australian star Nicole Kidman has officially joined Instagram. 

The 50-year-old Hollywood heavyweight attended the Golden Globes on Sunday in Los Angeles, and celebrated her win by posting her first picture of herself with her award from the night. 

The Big Little Lies star gained almost 350,000 followers in just hours, and proved herself pretty savvy when it comes to social media terms, captioning her first post: ‘About last night.’

‘About last night……shut the place down!!! I am so proud of my Big Little Lies family and to have stood with my sisters on such a special night. #TimesUp,’ Nicole captioned her first photo. 

In the image, she stuns in her black designer dress as she holds up her award and pulls a face. 

Nicole took home the first award of the night, for her role in Big Little Lies, taking home the Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television award.

‘My sisters,’ the post was captioned, adding a love heart emoji. 

When accepting her gong, Nicole made sure to share the honour with fellow executive producer and star Reese, as well as co-stars.   

As her character Celeste Wright is the victim of domestic abuse she made sure to share a message of hope as she said: ‘The character that I play represents something that is the center of our conversation right now: abuse. I do believe and hope that we can elicit change – through the stories we tell and the way we tell them.’

Nicole also made sure to thank her country singer husband Keith Urban as she sweetly said: ‘Keith Urban, when my cheek is against yours, everything melts away.’

The Big Little Lies series went on to secure a total of four Golden Globes during the evening. 

Nicole also praised her mother Janelle in her speech, telling the audience: ‘My momma was an advocate for the women’s movement when I was growing up, and because of her I’m standing here.’ 

Janelle, 77, who lives in Sydney, worked as a nursing instructor and was a member of the Women’s Electoral Lobby, a non-profit feminist lobby group founded in 1972.   

Nicole continued to gush: ‘My achievements are her [Janelle’s] achievements. Antonia Kidman, my sister, and I say thank you Janelle Kidman for what you fought for so hard.’
