Fisherman out for a relaxing day on the water at Victor Harbour in South Australia didn’t bargain on having to fight a huge school of sharks just to make a catch.

Breathtaking footage has captured the moment a group of anglers battle against a school of enormous predators for the prize of a massive fish.

‘I think we’ve created a feeding frenzy now,’ remarked on of the men as he struggles to reel in the fish – much to the amusement of the others.

The man starts to prematurely celebrate his catch, but is abruptly cut off as he is thrown against the edge of the boat by the nine-foot shark that is relentlessly tugging on the line.

‘Jesus Christ, he nearly pulled me in!’ shouted one of the fisherman, as the others fall about laughing at his panicked face as he almost falls into the churning water below.

Eventually, they win the tug-of-war and manage to reel in the fish and dangle it in the air to examine their catch – only to discover they’ve been left with just a tail for their trouble.

‘Have you ever seen a school of sharks like that?’ asked one of the men, as more than ten sharks circle the boat just beneath the surface of the water. ‘They are not happy with us.’

At the end of the video, the tail of the biggest shark aggressively slaps the boat’s outboard a final, defiant attack on the fishermen who stole his snack.

As a parting gesture, the shark smacks his tail hard against the outboard, shaking the vessel
