Vogue slammed for Margot Robbie and Nicole Kidman cover

British Vogue has been slammed for featuring actresses Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie on their February cover.

The high fashion bible highlights the actresses on their ‘Hollywood’s New Era’-themed issue cover alongside the subheading ‘Why We Need to Talk About Race’.

Readers took to Instagram to criticise the cover for being ‘too white’ and not featuring a diverse range of ethnicities.

‘Did you really put two of the whitest people you could find on the cover?’ British Vogue SLAMMED for featuring Margot Robbie and Nicole Kidman alongside headline ‘Why We Need to Talk About Race’

The cover shows Margot and Nicole posing with the 50-year-old Oscar winner hugging the I, Tonya star, 27.

But the shot didn’t resonate with all readers, with many questioning why the magazine had chosen to put two white actresses on its cover.

‘I think they missed this one. They shouldn’t have put a we need to talk about race article with this cover……Would have been great if it was 5 girls all different races or something not two blonde white women lol,’ One person wrote on Instagram.

Others were more sarcastic, writing: ‘Oh woow! We need to talk about race but wait let [us] give you our whitest cover.’

‘White women and chiffon. Groundbreaking,’ another remarked.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted British Vogue’s publisher Conde Nast for comment.

Inside the ‘Hollywood’s New Era’ article, British Vogue featured Nicole and Margot alongside Emma Stone, Gal Gadot and Saoirse Ronan.

Downsizing star Hong Chau was the only non-white actress to appear in the segment.

Margot told the issue how her family had questioned why she was pursuing acting at the beginning of her career.

‘My family has no connection to the entertainment industry whatsoever, so when I started acting, everyone was like, ‘That’s fun, but when are you going to actually get a real job?’ she said.

‘And that went on for years. They’re impressed for five seconds, and then they’re, ‘So anyway, the dog threw up today.’
