Isle of Coll Highland cow looks like she’s on the phone

  • Cow was spotted roaming the Isle of Coll with a bent horn that looks like a phone
  • Photographer Emma Adair, 20, snapped the creature on holiday with her partner
  • She said the animal was a ‘dream to photograph’ as they move slowly

With one horn bent down beside her face, this Highland cow looks as if she’s wearing a gigantic hands free (or should that been hooves free?) headset.

The cow is known across the Isle of Coll for her one odd horn, which curves from the top of her head around to the corner of her mouth.

Photographer Emma Adair, 20, who captured the image of the unusual beast, said: ‘I was on holiday with my boyfriend and his family last week when I took the picture.

‘Highland cows are so photogenic so they were a dream to photograph. Also, with them being so docile, it made the experience very enjoyable.

‘That was a female, you can tell this due to the shape of the horns, even though one was facing the wrong way.’

Miss Adair, from Edinburgh, spotted the cow among a herd of the animals which are allowed to wander freely around the tiny island in the Inner Hebrides.

Coll is known for its sandy beaches, which rise to form large sand dunes.
