Melbourne hit-and-run: Husband’s plea after nurse hit

The husband of a Melbourne nurse left fighting for life after a shocking hit-and-run incident has pleaded with the ‘heartless’ driver to hand themselves in.

Shanne Doktor-Naron, 29, was crossing the road after finishing work at Sunshine Hospital on Monday night when a dark-coloured utility ran a red light at a pedestrian crossing and slammed into her.

The impact sent Ms Doktor-Naron flying into the air before the driver fled the scene, leaving the young nurse for dead.

‘To the heartless person that did this to my wife, the least you can do is turn yourself into the police,’ her husband Justin Naron said, according to the Herald Sun.

Mr Naron spent the night by her wife’s side in hospital before she underwent surgery on Tuesday.

‘She’s still in the operating theatre now… I just hope there’s no internal bleeding or long term damage,’ he said.

‘I’m worried, scared and hopeful police will get the driver and we can have justice for my wife.’

Earlier, Mr Naron told Nine News his wife heard the vehicle’s engine revving before it hit her.

‘She heard the car revving hard so she saw the car coming and she kind of stepped back a little bit but she still got hit,’ he said.

‘I’m mad, how could a heartless person do this to her? She’s very kind and caring. I don’t know why people like that exist.’

Police believe the vehicle they are seeking will have damage to the left front.

Officers have appealed for witnesses or anyone who may have dash camera footage to come forward.
