Half of women take 6 SELFIES or more to find right one

A new statistic on selfies will surprise no one, but is nonetheless intriguing: Women tend to take more of them than men, at least in a single photo session.

It’s not that they necessarily find more occasions to snap photos of themselves, or that they post more personal shots on social media — though those things might be true, too.

According to a survey by The Florida House Experience, women tend to take more photos before finding a ‘winner’ than their male counterparts do.

Only five per cent of the women polled said they only take one selfie at a time, finding satisfaction in the first shot.

Nearly half said they take two to five shots before finding one they like, while over 46 per cent need six frames or more to choose from.

In fact, over 17 per cent take 11 photos or more before finding one they like.

Men, comparatively, feel the need to take fewer photos to get one they’re happy with. Nearly 16 per cent are good to go with just one, while 28 per cent take two to five.

It’s not totally surprising that women feel they need a few more tries before they can find an image they can feel good about, since the women surveyed also reported lower levels of body confidence.

Almost 88 per cent said they compare their bodies to the ones they see in the media (compared to 65 per cent of men), and most ladies think they come off worse in those comparisons.

Just over half said they compare ‘unfavorably’ to images in the media, compared to 37 per cent of men who said the same.

And body confidence seems to decline dramatically for women as they get older. Of those polled, 47 per cent said they feel less confident about their bodies over time, with just 27 per cent saying they felt more confident.

For men, the stats were reversed: 32 per cent said they felt less confident over time, and 39 per cent reported feeling more confident.

It also appears to be the worst in the Midwest. North Dakota, Wyoming, Kansas, Idaho, Montana, and Arizona all ranked in the top ten for lowest body confidence.

Interestingly, another survey by SelfieCity in 2014 came to similar conclusions about men, women, and selfies.

They found that women take more selfies than men — until they hit 40. Then, men take more selfies than women.
