Fire breaks out at Nottingham train station

Morning commuters are facing widespread cancellation after a huge fire has broken out at Nottingham railway station.

Eight fire crews are at the scene of the city centre station at around 6.30am.

Fire and smoke have been spotted in the station’s foyer. The building has been completely evacuated and trains have been stopped from entering or leaving the platforms.

A cordon around the station has been put in place.

East Midlands Trains warned: ‘Please do not travel to Nottingham station this morning as trains will be unable to run and we are unable to provide road transport to/from the station.

CrossCountry Trains tweeted: ‘Due to a fire at Nottingham station, our trains cannot run between Derby & Nottingham.

‘We are trying to source alternative transport at present.’
