He served five prison sentences, and received a total of 25 driving convictions.
Under the false name, he was also convicted of 26 counts of break, enter and steal, terrorising home and business owners in his hometown of Ulladulla.
After breaking into premises he liked to leave a calling card, defecating at the scene of his crimes.
A retired police officer said explanation for the act ‘had to be that it gave him some sort of psychological thrill rush’.
‘You can imagine the trauma of having your home broken into and then finding that smeared over the walls.’

As Jamie Wilson, Whitall was convicted of fare evasion, using heroin, dangerous driving, 28 convictions for driving an unregistered or unlicensed car, forgery, breaking domestic violence protection orders, assault and assaulting police.
While in prison he was convicted of fighting, using threatening language, damaging bedding and clothing, faking illness and refusing to provide urine samples for drug tests.
He was tracked by police using his Criminal Name Index number of 2234636, which remained constant despite his name changes as it was matched to his fingerprints.

His first arrest as Jamie Wilson came in the 1980s for drink driving, driving a defective vehicle and having a smooth tyre.
He appeared at the same court eight days later as Craig Whitall, this time charged with driving without a licence, fraudulently using a licence and attempting to drive after drinking.
As Wilson, he was sentenced to 12 months in prison for assault, and another 12 months in 1999 for assault, resisting arrest and break, enter and steal.
He was jailed for nine months in 2003 for larceny, one week in 2004 for breaking a protection order and later that same year for driving while disqualified.
