‘After the Oscars there are all these different after parties, and the last, most terrifying one is up at Madonna’s house,’ he explained. ‘And you go up in about seven different cars and they check passports and all this…

‘And there’s no press, so everyone can relax. And there’s the extraordinary experience of watching Beyoncé dance to Beyoncé.’

The Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them star, who took his wife Hannah Bagshawe with him to the glitzy event, went on: ‘I got very drunk and Mark Ronson was DJing. And it got to 2AM or 3AM and it got to the point where they were saying “this is the last song”…

‘And we were really getting into the thick of it and my wife went up and said “please don’t stop, my husband’s just won an Oscar!” And so he played a couple more songs!’

Eddie won praise at Christmastime after joining a growing list of celebrated stars to entertain children and adults alike with a Christmas Day appearance on much watched CBeebies show Bedtime Stories.

The Oscar winning star delighted fans with a reading of If I Had A Dinosaur.

Written in rhyme by Gabby Dawney and illustrated by Alex Barrow, the whimsical tale centres on a young girl who dreams about owning her own pet, but remains unsure about what animal to choose until her toy dinosaur inspires her.

The actor’s appearance preceded a Boxing Day reading by Emma Watson, who took to the Story Seat with Lost For Words by author-illustrator Natalie Russell.

Emma and Eddie are both fixtures in the Harry Potter film series, with the second prequel Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald set for release this coming November.
