‘In case you are thinking of it, this is what it did to me.

‘Never before have I had sunscreen give me a rash.’

Ms Johnson posted a picture of the Cancer Council SPF 50+ Ultra Sunscreen to Facebook.

She also posted a picture of her rash which shows red welts across her left shoulder.

In a statement Craig Sinclair, Chair Public Health Committee at Cancer Council Australia said:’If you are concerned about sunscreen sensitivities, before using a sunscreen for the first time test a small application on the inside of your arm for a few days to see if there is any immediate reaction – this will help detect contact dermatitis but may not pick up allergies that appear after longer-term repeated applications.

‘For the best protection, it is important that people don’t just rely on sunscreen alone and use the product in conjunction with covering clothing, hats, sunglasses and shade.’
