A northern Michigan woman has been charged with murder in the death of her second infant in five years.
Lisa Rae Bryan, 33, faces charges of second-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter and obstruction of justice in the November 2016 death of her infant daughter, Isabella Powrozek.
Sheriff Peter Wallin told WPBN that cases like Isabella’s are tough.
‘Unfortunately, a young infant was tragically killed and what will happen now is it will be up to the judicial system to determine the outcome of this case,’ Wallin said.
‘Unfortunately a sad thing happened, but it was good work on my deputies to gather all this information, because it took a lot of work to put it all together.’
Isabella – who was born on October 6, 2016 – had been found unresponsive when police were called to McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital on November 1.

A police report says Bryan changed her statement multiple times when questioned about her daughter’s death and admitted holding the infant close to her chest while sleeping in a bed with the child.
The child was born with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome or narcotic withdrawal from when the parent takes drugs or alcohol during the pregnancy.
She was transferred to tp Munson Medical Center Traverse City after birth and died 36 hours after being discharged.
It’s unclear if Bryan has an attorney.
She was convicted of second-degree manslaughter in 2011 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, when her 50-day-year-old daughter drowned.
While she was sentenced to four years, she only 15 months.
