Tiny ‘microflat’ design is unveiled with 200sq ft space

City dwellers could be resting their heads in futuristic microflats, with designers creating one with 205 square feet of space.

Designers created the tiny flats with a budget in mind of £700 to £1,200 per month in rent.

Ab Rogers Design, in London, used space intelligently to cut down on square footage.

The raised bed has stairs going up to it that double as drawers and shelves. The intelligent living space manages to fit in a sofa, wardrobe, laundry cupboard, bed and table

A wardrobe and a laundry space (where a washing machine could be installed) are located under their bed.

The raised bed has stairs going up to it that double as drawers and shelves, and the flat has a massive window which brings in plenty of natural light.

A sofa, table, kitchen and bathroom with a high shower have all also been squeezed into the space.

‘Compact and well-designed space does not compromise comfort and use’: Designer Mr Rogers described the premise of the flats

The ceiling is raised at 10 feet high.

Incredibly, at a party thrown for the finishing of the flat, 12 people were able to squeeze into it.

Despite the tiny space available, half of the floor space has been left for those living there to plan what they want to do with it.

The design was created for developer U+I, who are considering locations in nine boroughs in central London.

Designer Mr Rogers, who’s father Lord Rogers was an architect for the Millennium Dome, told The Evening Standard the premise of the flats was that ‘compact and well-designed space does not compromise comfort and use.’
