Thieves steal good Samaritan’s car in Maidstone, Melbourne

  • Child was spotted by 39-year-old passer-by in Melbourne suburb of Maidstone
  • The man stopped to help the youngster, who was running along Rosamond Rd
  • Moments later, the thieves pounced, making off the man’s 2017 Ford Ranger
  • Car also contained good Samaritan’s house keys, wallet and laptop computer
  • Police realeased images of men police say may be able to assist with enquiries

Callous thieves have made off with a good Samaritan’s car, wallet and computer as he was rescuing a young child trapped on a busy road. 

Police said the child was at ‘significant risk’ when he was spotted by the passer-by in the Melbourne suburb of Maidstone on Tuesday night. 

Moments after the 39-year-old man stopped to help the youngster, who was running along Rosamond Road at about 7pm, the heartless thieves pounced. 

One offender jumped behind the wheel of the man’s black 2017 Ford Ranger and fled the scene, with his accomplice following in a yellow Ford.

The car, which he purchased just a few weeks ago, contained his house keys, wallet and laptop computer.   

Police have released images of two men police believe may be able to assist with their enquiries, as well as of a yellow Ford the pair may have been travelling in.

Images of the stolen vehicle have also been released by authorities in the hope that someone may have more information.

The Ford was displaying plates UAG799 on the front and UDY124 on the back.
