Man charged with attempted murder in Adelaide

  • A man allegedly tried to strangle a 27-year-old man in Adelaide on Thursday
  • The 36-year-old offender approached victim from behind on Salisbury Highway
  • The offender then wrapped a cord around the victim’s neck, police allege
  • He has been arrested and charged with attempted murder

A 36-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder in South Australia, after allegedly trying to strangle another man with a cord.

The offender was arrested in Salisbury, north of Adelaide, on Thursday after alledegly wrapping a cord around the neck of a 27-year-old man.

The victim was walking along Salisbury Highway just after 11am when he was strangled by the offender.

Members of the public intervened and the 36-year-old fled the scene before being arrested a short time later.

The victim was taken to Modbury Hospital and was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation continues and the offender remains in police custody. 

Police believe the attack is random and expect the man to appear in Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Friday.
