A mother-of-three who was viciously attacked as she waited at a cash point while 12 people walked by without coming to her aid said her ‘faith in humanity has been diminished’ following the unprovoked assault.
CCTV footage captures the moment Judith Hood was brutally attacked while a dozen bystanders failed to step in.
Ms Hood was beaten, stamped on, and had clumps of hair ripped from her head by vicious Carla Peak during an unprovoked onslaught which lasted around eight minutes.

The shocking assault took place after Peak became enraged because she was unable to withdraw money from the ATM on Bridge Street, in Blyth, Northumberland.
She then lashed out at innocent Ms Hood, who suffered fractured ribs, a dislocated shoulder and had so much hair pulled from her scalp that the CPS managed to fill a forensic carrier with it.
But when Ms Hood went to Newcastle Crown Court to watch her attacker be sentenced last month, she was stunned to see how many people walked past without coming to her aid – leaving her faith in humanity shattered.
She said: ‘The thing that shocked me the most was sitting in court and seeing how many people walked past whilst I was getting attacked.
‘I was thankful for the people that helped me, but the attack could have been put to an end a lot sooner.
‘It diminished my faith in humanity a bit.
‘I was waiting behind Carla in the queue and she began screaming at the cash machine, saying “give me my money”.
‘My taxi was on its way and she was taking ages, so I politely asked her if she would be long.
‘Then all of a sudden I was knocked over, and she started grabbing at my eyes – I could feel that they were about to pop out.

‘The she started to stamp on my back, I had bruises in the shape of footprints for weeks.
‘I didn’t go straight to hospital because I just wanted to be in my own home, but I went the next morning which is when the police became involved.
‘I was so confused when the attack what happening, there was just no to reason to it – at first I thought it was a mugging but she didn’t take anything from me.’
Just months before the horrific attack, the 48-year-old was left devastated by a fire that ripped through her home and destroyed the majority of her belongings.

But the attack meant that the carer, who had been having Good Friday drinks with a friend last year, was unable to work for eight weeks and afford to rebuild her life.
In December 2017, 30-year-old Peak, of Lindsay Avenue, Blyth, was locked up for 18 months after admitting GBH.
Judith added: ‘At first I felt a little bit sorry for her because she has three young kids, but that simply does not justify what she has done to me and how much heartbreak she has caused.
‘I could not go out in over eight months. I was scared of everything.
‘At night when I close my eyes I can still feel her hands in my eye sockets and the throbbing of where my hair was pulled out.
‘I just don’t want to let her win, I am not scared any more.
‘She knew what she did to me and she had absolutely no remorse. I was off work sick for eight months – and after the fire that put me in financial difficulties.’
