Kate caught in traffic on the school run

  • Duchess of Cambridge caught up in busy traffic on the Kings Road on Friday
  • Likely on her way to or from picking Prince George up from school
  • Four-year-old son attends Thomas’s Battersea – 3 miles from Kensington Palace

She may be married to the future King of England; but there are some unfortunate realities of modern life that even the Duchess of Cambridge can’t avoid.

Kate was snapped stuck in traffic at the wheel of her Range Rover in London on Friday afternoon, likely on her way to fetch Prince George from school.

The pregnant Duchess could have been any other busy mum as she waited patiently ahead of a number 11 bus on the Kings Road in Chelsea.

Famously determined to give their children as normal an upbringing as possible given, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge chose to send four-year-old Prince George to the relatively low-key Thomas’s Battersea.

The fee-paying day school is across the river – and 3.6miles of busy central London roads – away from the family home at Kensington Palace.

But the threat of rush hour traffic clearly hasn’t put Kate off being there to meet George at the gate at the end of the day.

Kate was unable to join Prince George on his first day at school back in September, because she was suffering with hyperemesis gravidarum – a severe form of morning sickness that affected her while she was expecting both George and his little sister Princess Charlotte, two.

The Duchess is due to give birth to the Cambridge’s third child in the spring.

Her low key Friday afternoon came at the end of a busy week for Kate, who visited Coventry Cathedral with Prince William, then later visited both Great Ormond Street Hospital and Bond Primary School in Mitcham on a solo day of engagements on Wednesday.

The Duchess, who changed out of her smart dress into sports gear to play with pupils, was a hit with the schoolchildren, who were snapped lining up to give her a hug at the end of her visit.
