‘My heart dropped when the police came. I thought “oh god, that bad?”,’ his cousin Alyssa Viloria said.

‘I walked in the house, rushed in (and) I’m like “Dad, wake up,” – he’s asleep on the couch.’

Xavier was spotted by a neighbour walking the streets alone wearing his neon yellow sneakers.

The resident luckily alerted police who brought Xavier safely back home after appealing for public assistance to find his family.

He was reunited with his relieved family members a little more than an hour after he went missing.

Ms Viloria said her younger cousin had a habit of playing with the lock which led to his solo adventure through Sydney’s northwest suburbs.
