MAFS Davina Rankin responds to trolls who call her ‘fake’

Married At First Sight’s busty bride Davina Rankin was bombarded with unkind words and snarky comments when she debuted on the controversial series on Wednesday.

The unlucky-in-love Brisbane socialite was slammed by online trolls, who claimed she was ‘fake as f***’, ‘plastic’, ‘nasty and vacuous’ and an overall ‘mean girl’.

And now Davina has hit back at critics, telling Daily Mail Australia: ‘I could be Mother Teresa and people would still have something to say.’

The Instagram model, with more than 220,000 followers, is accustomed to positive and negative interactions with the public: ‘Dealing with trolls is something that I’ve dealt with for a long time, especially being involved in the social media world.’

Davina chose to defend the comments: ‘I’m far from a “mean girl”and I spend A LOT of my time helping and empowering others so my friends/ family and followers who have known me for years know that I’m far from the ‘fake’ person people are to label me as.’

However, the flood of negative responses to her debut haven’t phased the reality star, as she claimed: ‘I have really thick skin, so it’s nothing I can’t handle.’

She also appeared to hint that footage from her wedding painted her in an unfavourable light for viewers.

‘I hate that it was edited in a way that the public missed a lot of the fun times that were had at the wedding. At our photo shoot all we did was laugh and by the end of the night Ryan and I got along like a house on fire, even all my friends and family had nothing but lovely things to say.’

‘But that’s the drama of the show I guess… Everyone is going to have an opinion, especially when you put yourself out there on such a public platform,’ she said.
