Mystery trip to a secret location ends at closed museum

A group of day trippers spent £17 each for a ‘mystery coach trip’ to a secret location, only to arrive at a museum to find it was closed.

The party had travelled 50 miles from Nottingham to the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery.

However after an hour-long drive they arrived to discover that the museum in Stoke-on-Trent had been shut for more than a week as part of a refurbishment project.

On arrival, dejected tourists were informed of the news before being loaded back onto the bus for the 50-mile trip back home.

The day trip was organised by Henshaw Coaches, which is based out of Jackdale in Nottinghamshire.

Potteries Museum and Art Gallery has been closed since January 22 as the site’s iconic Spitfire display is dismantled ahead of a new exhibition.

A notice on the museum’s website warns: ‘The Spitfire will be leaving the museum to begin a new adventure.

‘To enable us to deliver this exciting project the museum will be closed from January 22 and reopen on February 10.

‘Our cafe will still be open with access via the side of the museum opposite the library.’
