- An Adelaide couple has called a catcher to remove a snake from their hose reel
- The venomous Eastern Brown had to be coaxed out with a metal pole on Sunday
- The reptile was then guided into a bag for relocation into the nearby bushland
- Residents are warned that there will be plenty of baby Eastern browns around
An Adelaide couple were perplexed as to why their garden hose wasn’t retracting into the reel – until they made a slimy discovery on Sunday afternoon.
Unable to coax their reluctant guest from his strange sleeping spot, they were forced to call the Adelaide Snake Catcher to help rid them of their unwelcome squatter.
Nail-biting footage reveals the moment the catcher inserted a metal pole into the hose reel to dislodge the venomous Eastern brown snake from its hiding place.

As onlookers filmed, the reptile slithered out and sought refuge by intertwining itself around the discarded length of green hose.
Luckily the catcher was able to pick it up by the tail, untangle it and guide its head into a black bag so it can be safely relocated into the bushland.
A couple of horrified commenters took to Facebook to share their reactions, with several pledging to check their garden hose reels when they get home and others congratulating the catcher on his speed and agility.
Residents are also warned that there will be a rise in the number of Eastern Browns in the area over the coming weeks as breeding season comes to an end and juvenile snakes begin to hatch.
The first baby Eastern brown for the season was removed from Adelaide’s Tatachilla Lutheran College on Saturday morning. But don’t let their size fool you – the little ones pack just as much of a bite as the adults.
