- The birds were filmed circling the sky above a busy road in Mesquite, Texas
- They were swooping in every direction while squawking and darkening the sky
- Hitchcock’s 1963 film portrayed a town becoming the victim of bird attacks
This is the extraordinary moment that thousands of birds are seen circling a Texas highway and swooping across the road in all directions.
In a scene recalling Alfred Hitchcock’s horror film The Birds, drivers find the sky above them suddenly darkened by an enormous flock.
The footage, filmed in Mesquite on the outskirts of Dallas, Texas, shows an intersection which birds are said to visit by the thousands every year.
In the one-minute clip one driver is shown rolling down their car window and hears the squawking of the birds above.

They are seen soaring over the road in every direction, as at one point a particularly large flock emerges in unison from above a power line.
With traffic stopped in the lane where the driver is filming, the motorists have little do to but admire the bird bonanza above.
It recalls Hitchcock’s 1963 work The Birds, in which a small Northern California town becomes the sudden victim of a series of unexplained bird attacks.
Starring Tippi Hendren and Rod Taylor, the film is set in Bodega Bay, where thousands of birds swoop on anyone who is seen outside, according to the Internet Movie Database.
It was based on a book of the same name, written by English author Daphne du Maurier.
