He’s the Australian boxer known for his tough-talking persona in the ring.
But on Monday night’s episode of I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! Anthony Mundine showed a softer side, revealing how a fan’s near suicide attempt had deeply affected him.
Speaking to Jackie Gillies about the incident, Anthony later broke down down in tears crying.

As the two cleaned up the camp, Anthony revealed how a man had been caught by his 13-year-old daughter about to take his own life.
‘She was going hysterical, said, ”Dad, what are you doing? What are you doing?” And [he said] ”I need to go, I need to do this”,’ Anthony recounted.
The boxer said the teenager managed to persuade her father not to take his own life by reminding him about a lifelong dream.

‘And she goes, ”Well, what about Anthony Mundine?” Because he always told her that he always wanted to meet me before he died, you know. And then he goes, ”Yep, that’s true daughter, we’re going to meet him”,’ Anthony said.
Breaking down in tears as he reflected to the cameras later, Anthony said the harrowing tale had left its impact.
‘He came and met me. He said… He said, ”Your courage, your strength, helped me out of this dark place”,’ Anthony said in between sobs.

A sympathetic Jackie said that Anthony had ‘probably saved thousands of lives’ thanks to his character.
‘You have inspired kids… Because you care about people, Anthony, you care about people’s feelings and that’s not something to be ashamed of, man,’ she said.
‘You can inspire people, that’s what you’re meant to do.
‘You know, boxing and you’re known for that, but I believe that there is why you do what you do.’
